Mechanism Of Action – When UrgoTul comes in contact with wound exudate, a moist environment is created in order to promote wound healing. UrgoTul does not adhere to the wound bed and is pain-free and atraumatic upon removal.
Recommended use – UrgoTul is indicated for the management of acute wounds such as burns, skin tears, traumatic wounds and post-operative wounds. UrgoTul is flexible and conformable, suited for covering wounds in awkward places. UrgoTul can also be used in the management of epidermolysis bullosa. A secondary dressing is required. The dressing should be cut to the size of the wound.
Regime – UrgoTul should be changed every 2-4 days and may be left in place for up to 7 days, depending on the level of exudate and the condition of the wound. UrgoTul should be changed every 1-3 days in the management of epidermolysis bullosa.
Precautions – UrgoTul may stick to latex surgical gloves therefore moisten gloves with saline to aid in easier handling. If signs of local infection are present, an antibacterial dressing must be used prior to application of UrgoTul. In the case of a deep wound, UrgoTul does not need to be applied in several layers. In case of deep wounds or fistulas, a portion of the UrgoTul should be visible to aid in the removal of the dressing. The action of the dressing may cause stinging on the initial commencement of treatment.
